NCR papers are a type of self-copying paper that perform the copying function without the need for traditional carbon sheets. These papers consist of multiple layers (typically 2 to 5), each coated with a specific chemical. When pressure is applied to the top sheet—such as through writing with a pen or using a printer—a chemical reaction between the layers transfers the text or image to the sheets below.
Types of Self-Copying Paper Sheets
–CB (Coated Back): The top sheet; coated on the back, acts as the color transmitter
Common color: White
-CFB (Coated Front & Back): The middle sheet; coated on both sides, acts as both receiver and transmitter of color
Common colors: Pink, Green, Blue
–CF (Coated Front): The bottom sheet; coated on the front, acts only as the color receiver
Common color: Yellow
